Q.What is Christian Marriage?
A. Christian
marriage means the marriage of Christians; the union of a man and
woman who believe in God, who acknowledge Jesus Christ as their
Redeemer, who join in the worship, the sacraments, and the
fellowship of the Church.
Q.I'm not
baptised. I don't go to church. Can I still get married in
church?
A. Legally, yes
you can. But the Church would much prefer that you were Baptized
before your wedding because you will be making Christian vows as
the basis of your new life as a married person.
Q. What kind of
service will we be able to have at our wedding?
A. Three forms of service are currently allowed by law in the Church of England. You are free to chose one of them. However, you need to think carefully about how accessible, for modern listeners, the language used in each service will be for the people who will be attending your wedding. You can read the various marriage services by following the following links:
Marriage Service 1662 traditional language
Marriage Service 1928 revised traditional language with revised vows
Marriage Service 2000 contemporary language
Q.How do
I book the church for a wedding?
